OUR STORY
Royal Broom Factory was founded in 1897 by George Smith. Mr. Smith's objective was to make the best available corn brooms. Royal's brooms were well known throughout the gulf south for high quality at a good value. In 1959, Mr. Smith decided it was time to retire, and sold his company to Mr. Morris Rabe, Jr. Mr. Rabe added Supermaid mops and mop heads to his line, and changed the name of the company to Royal Broom & Mop Factory, Inc. Mr. Rabe employed his three children to help him operate his company till his death in the early 1970’s. Out of the three, his daughter, Joyce and her husband, William Staehle, Jr., succeeded Mr. Rabe in owning and operating the broom and mop factory with their two sons currently keeping the family tradition going.
